Why did I ever say " Yes, I'd be happy to do that"?

During the holidays I did a "Silver Threads" show and sold little minature stockings made from upcyled sweater scraps. Someone came up and ask if I would take a sweater from her that use to belong to her father and make stockings from it. Well needless to say I said yes. When she arrived with the sweater, there were two instead. I said, "No problem as long as you don't want them until after Christmas".

Two months later I took scissors in hand, said a small prayer for help, took a deep breath, and started to cut. The first cut into the sweaters were the hardest and after that it was a breeze because I knew this was special to someone and it was going to bring back fond memories as they hung on the trees of the family members they were going to.

The little stockings were a joy to make and all the fretting and procrastination was for nothing. They came out adorable, each one just slightly different because of the way the felted sweater ran through the feeders and feet of the sewing machine.
What did I learn from this experience? I learned it really is okay to say "Yes" even when you wonder why because saying "No" is not an option when you can help someone remember a loved one who is no longer with them.

Where does the time go

Well it's almost two months into the year and I'm thinking were have the last six weeks gone? On the first week of January I thought 'I'm going to get all kines of things done this winter..' Well there have been a few successes in the sewing department, but never enough time in a day to get it all done.

First I think I need to come into so real money so I can sew all the time.....

My Etsy site has been doing better this year than last , www.foxislandfancywork.etsy.com . I am determined to post 100 items as soon as possible and then try to make some more friends in Etsy...then I'm going to keep making more goodies all the time.

Oh before I forget, I need to give credit to Kris at www.resweater.artfire.com for some really wonderful sweaters for all my creations. She is absolutely fantastic and will do anything to help you out. So if you're like me and have a passion for sewing with felt, make sure you check out her shop.
